Remedy Quest
Remedy Quest is a casual mobile game to improve education on COVID-19 and vaccines. Funded by Innovate UK, Remedy Quest was developed during the pandemic to collect meaningful data on player attitudes towards COVID (UK + US). Game Doctor led game development and production. Virus Fighter is a pandemic simulation game designed to educate school students on importance of vaccination during pandemics. Commissioned by The Babraham Institute, Game Doctor led game development and production. Virus Fighter is based on pandemic modeling algorithms developed by Babraham Institute. Doctor Dirt
Dr Dirt is a mobile game developed for University of Strathclyde. The game educates players on the process of antibiotic development. challenging them to find new medicines from the environment. Contact: Empathy Response
Contact is a serious game developed for University of West Scotland. The project aimed develop a game concept to engage students on safe COVID behaviours. Contact uses story-based learning to engage players on the unique experiences of different individuals during the pandemic. Game Doctor led game design, development and production.
Bacteria Combat
Bacteria Combat is a mobile game designed to educate players on antibiotic resistance. Inspired by Top Trumps and Supercards, players battle opponents with their strongest stat - choosing between good and bad bacteria. Funded by Microbiology Society, SFAM and University of Glasgow the game has been played in over 10 countries by over 10,000 players. Click image for case study.
Killer Fungus
Killer Fungus is a suite of arcade games developed for University of Aberdeen fungal research group. Killer Fungus included two games: Fungal Invaders and Killer Fungus Evolution; to teach players on how fungi infect and how they are treated. Game Doctor led game development and production. Scientific Investigator
Scientific Investigator is a e-learning game developed for University of Cambridge. Developed for their schools outreach programme, Scientific Investigator teaches A-level students on inquiry-based learning in the genetics associated with obesity. My Amazing PA
My Amazing PA is a prototype mobile application developed for a Cheltenham-based entrepreneur, that helps parents feel more organised and in control. My Amazing PA offers shared calendars and to-do lists, with built in links to the sites you need to get things done. The prototype was developed for market research and user testing. Game Doctor led prototype development and project management.
Public Health England Games
Public Health England are developing a visitor centre in Harlow. They aimed to design educational games for exhibition in the centre. In collaboration with PHE and Gloucester College, Game Doctor worked with students to develop >10 prototype games on important public health topics including vaccines, air pollution and sexual health. Game Doctor led project management and project direction.
Food Hygiene Animation
For some projects, full game development is not required. Public Health England required an engaging resource to educate schools on food hygiene for a Horizon 2020 project. Game Doctor worked with scientists to develop an entertaining animation, informed by research. Game Doctor led animation design, development and script design.
Isle of Man Workshops
Game Doctor collaborated with Love Tech Isle of Man to provide game design workshops for young people across the island. Held over a weekend, two workshops were held that taught young people how to design a serious game and pitch their idea to industry professionals. Over 50 young people attended the workshops
Digital Xtra Fund
In 2020/21 Game Doctor received a Digital Xtra Fund grant to upskill students from Leith Academy on game design and development. Due to COVID, we pivoted the project into a digital platform through an innovative collaboration with Game Salad. The outcomes of the project was a personalised platform for Leith Academy to make and publish their own games.
